About the Training Programme

This three session programme gives you real hands on experience inside a working radio station. You will learn how shows are created, how to speak on air, and how to use studio equipment with confidence.

Microphone Technique

Learn how to speak clearly and feel more confident on air.

Show Planning

Understand how radio shows are structured and prepared.

Interview Skills

Learn research techniques and how to interview guests.

Audio Editing

Get practical experience recording and editing audio.

Training Details

Training takes place over three Monday sessions and costs 95 euro. Sessions are held at the Community Office, Park Street, Dundalk, Co Louth. Places are limited.

What You Can Expect

Many participants go on to create their own shows, contribute to existing programmes, or support production behind the scenes at Dundalk FM.

Some trainees continue into volunteering, take part in our work experience programme, or attend our open sessions to gain more confidence inside the studio.

You can also explore our range of community radio shows to hear the variety of programming created by presenters and volunteers across Dundalk FM.

Our Trainers

Training sessions are supported by experienced Dundalk FM presenters, producers, and community broadcasters with practical experience in radio production, interviewing, live broadcasting, and programme development.

Training has included support from presenters and producers including Marissa Lucchesi, Andrew Nulty, Seoirse Bulfin, Jason Kelly, and other members of the Dundalk FM team involved in community broadcasting and media training.

Participants learn inside a real working radio station environment with guidance from people actively involved in community radio.
