Spotlight is one of Dundalk FM 97.7‘s most distinctive and community-rooted music formats, a series of one hour shows where a presenter dedicates the entire programme to their favourite band or musician. Each episode belongs to a different person and a different passion, making Spotlight one of the most varied and personal series on the station’s schedule.
A presenter chooses the artist or band they love most, researches their story, selects their favourite tracks, and brings it all together into an hour of radio that is entirely their own. The result is a series that has covered an extraordinary range of music over the years, from international superstars to cult favourites, from rock legends to Irish acts, from jazz icons to pop heroes.
Spotlight has served as the entry point into broadcasting for many of
Dundalk FM‘s most valued volunteer presenters. For people who have just completed a radio training course at the station, the chance to record a Spotlight show is often the first real opportunity to put everything they have learned into practice, to find their voice, make their choices, and present a programme they are genuinely proud of. Past episodes have covered artists as varied as Queen, The Cranberries, Creedence Clearwater Revival, Buddy Rich, One Direction, and many more, each show a reflection of the individual behind the microphone.
Spotlight airs on Tuesday evenings at 9pm and on rotation during the week.
