Eimear O’Kane / Presenter
Eimear O’Kane co-presents The Arts Zone on Dundalk FM 97.7 alongside Carole Wardlaw, airing on the second and fourth Saturdays of the month at noon, and she is one of those presenters whose genuine enthusiasm for her subject comes through in every broadcast.
The Arts Zone covers the arts and cultural life of Dundalk and the wider region with depth and warmth: theatre productions, visual art exhibitions, music events, literary happenings, and the community creativity that is one of Dundalk’s distinctive qualities as a town. Eimear’s knowledge of the local arts scene and her ability to make that scene feel accessible and relevant to a wide audience have been central to the show’s reputation as one of the most intelligent programmes on the station.
She has been recognised at the station’s World Radio Day events for her contribution to Dundalk FM, a reflection of the regard in which she is held by her colleagues and the station management. Beyond her own programme, Eimear has been an active participant in the broader life of the station, contributing ideas for new programming formats during development discussions and offering support to newer presenters navigating the early stages of broadcasting.
Her suggestion of a book club slot and her interest in poetry programming reflect a creative curiosity that extends well beyond the boundaries of The Arts Zone, and that curiosity is part of what makes her broadcasting consistently interesting.
The Arts Zone airs on Dundalk FM 97.7 on the second and fourth Saturdays at noon. It is the best place on local radio to find out what is happening culturally in and around Dundalk.
