Treading the Boards with Oisín McDonnell airing on the second Monday of the month at 8pm is dedicated to the world of local, national and international musical theatre and stage performance. The title says it all. To tread the boards is to perform on a theatre stage, and the show is built around the music, the stories, and the spectacle that have made musical theatre one of the most enduringly popular art forms in the world.

Dundalk has a rich tradition of musical theatre. The town’s amateur drama and musical society scene has produced generations of performers, and An Táin Arts Centre on Crowe Street regularly programmes professional touring productions that bring the best of Irish and international theatre to North Louth audiences. Treading the Boards sits naturally within that tradition, giving the music of the stage a dedicated home on
Dundalk FM and celebrating an art form that the town has always embraced with enthusiasm.
