Boots ‘n’ Roots is one of the most distinctive and internationally recognised shows on Dundalk FM 97.7, dedicated to the rich and sprawling world of Americana, roots music, and everything that grows from the soil of traditional country. Produced and presented by Kerry Fearon, the show airs on the third Saturday of every month and covers a wide musical landscape that includes Americana, Folk, Bluegrass, Ameripolitan, Alternate Country, Traditional Country, and Honky Tonk, while also featuring regular special guests and in-depth interviews with artists from across the globe.
Kerry Fearon is an award-winning country singer and performer in her own right,
Since stepping into the spotlight, Kerry has carved out a remarkable career on both sides of the microphone. In 2016 she reached the final of the TG4 country music talent show Glór Tíre and won the prestigious Horizon Award for Most Successful British and Irish Country Newcomer. She went on to win the Johnny Loughrey Award at the Hot Country Awards in 2018. Her debut album Honky Tonk Girl, released in 2018, won Pure Country Album of the Year at the 24th Annual Academy of Western Artists Awards in Fort Worth, Texas in 2020 — a remarkable achievement for an independent artist from the island of Ireland. The album was also album of the month on Danish radio, underlining Kerry’s growing international profile.
As a performer, Kerry has shared stages with some of the biggest names in American roots music, including Marty Haggard (son of the legendary Merle Haggard), Joni Harms, Leona Williams, Will Banister, and she toured the UK supporting Texan country star Kelly Willis. She attended Americanafest in Nashville and served as MC at the Westport Folk and Bluegrass Festival, cementing her reputation as one of the most well-connected voices in the Irish and British Americana scene.
Kerry joined Dundalk FM in August 2019, and Boots ‘n’ Roots has grown steadily ever since. The show is now broadcast on over 30 stations worldwide, a testament to the quality of Kerry’s production and the enduring appeal of the music she champions. Regular features on the show include Legend’s Corner, A Taste of North Carolina, The Next Waltz from Austin, Texas, the Westport Folk and Bluegrass Festival Series, and a spotlight on homegrown music from Ireland, England, Scotland, and Canada.
