Colette McGahon presents Classics with Colette on Dundalk FM 97.7, a programme dedicated to classical music that has been bringing one of the world’s great art forms to the station’s listeners for a considerable number of years.

Classical music on community radio is rarer than it should be, and the quality of Classics with Colette makes it more valuable as a result. Colette’s knowledge of the repertoire is extensive and her love of the music is absolutely evident in every broadcast. She approaches each programme as an education as much as a concert, sharing context about composers, works, and performances that helps listeners engage with the music more fully whether they are long-time classical enthusiasts or coming to it for the first time.

The show airs on Sunday afternoons and on Wednesday evenings, giving it two distinct audience contexts. Sunday afternoons suit the contemplative, unhurried quality of much classical music beautifully. Wednesday evenings offer a midweek pause from the noise of daily life that classical music can provide better than almost any other genre.

Colette is held in particularly high regard within the Dundalk FM community. She served as MC at the station’s Social Benefit World Radio Day 2025 conference, a role given to someone the station trusts to represent it with intelligence and grace. That trust is well placed.
