Oisin McDonnell / Presenter
Treading the Boards on Dundalk FM 97.7 airs on the first Saturday of every month at 9pm and dedicates a full hour to the world of musical theatre, from the stages of Broadway and the West End to the broader universe of stage music they represent. Oisín covers the complete spectrum: the raw rock energy of Rent and The Rocky Horror Show, the soaring romanticism of The Phantom of the Opera, the timeless storytelling of West Side Story, and the intricate, layered genius of Sondheim.
He came to radio through a family connection. His uncle presented Brilliant Music on Dundalk FM, and Oisín had appeared as a guest on that show from time to time, always finding the environment comfortable and the medium appealing. When the chance came to have his own programme, he took it. This is his first time presenting in his own right, and what he has found at Dundalk FM is exactly what he hoped for: the freedom to build something genuinely personal, surrounded by people who want to help each other succeed.
His favourite quote is from Sondheim’s Into the Woods: nice is different than good. Four words containing more theatrical and human wisdom than most essays manage in four pages.
