Kerry Fearon / Presenter

Kerry Fearon is one of the most professionally accomplished and widely heard presenters on the Dundalk FM 97.7 schedule, and her story is one of the most remarkable in Irish country music and community radio.

Her career as a singer and performer accelerated quickly. In 2016 she reached the final of the TG4 country talent show Glór Tíre and won the prestigious Horizon Award for the most successful British and Irish newcomer in country music. She went on to tour with Kelly Willis from Texas, support Thomas Gabriel (grandson of Johnny Cash) on his Cash Legacy Ireland Tour, and perform at festivals from Westport Folk and Bluegrass to Howth Roots and Blues, Leek Blues and Americana, and Millport Country Music Festival. She hosted the Homegrown Hour and Ireland’s Hot 7 chart on Downtown Country and Downtown Radio for four years, graduated from the highly acclaimed M.I.X. course with Hot Press Magazine, and attended Americanafest in Nashville.

In 2018 she released her debut album Honky Tonk Girl, which became Album of the Month on Denmark radio. Two years later, she won the Pure Country Album of the Year at the 24th Annual Academy of Western Artists Awards in Fort Worth, Texas, beating American artists including Jason James and Weldon Henson. The awards ceremony had to be rescheduled due to Covid and Kerry watched live online from Ireland through the night.

She joined Dundalk FM in August 2019 to produce and present Boots ‘n’ Roots, airing on the third Saturday of every month. The show covers Americana, roots, folk, bluegrass, Ameripolitan, alternate country, traditional country, and honky tonk, and now airs on over 30 stations worldwide. It is one of the most internationally distributed programmes to originate from any community radio station in Ireland.
