Michael presents two carefully crafted and thoughtfully researched programmes on the station. My Song, broadcast on the second Saturday of every month from 11pm to midnight, is dedicated entirely to songwriters. Not the singers or the performances, but the men and women who actually wrote the words and music that became part of all our lives, the composers and lyricists who shaped culture without ever quite receiving the recognition they deserve. Each episode tells the story of one songwriter in depth, and for the most prolific, the story takes more than one programme to tell properly. The show also features occasional mini-series exploring husband and wife writing partnerships, or songwriters from a particular genre or era.

Gone But Not Forgotten is a five-week tribute series that runs each January, honouring the musicians and Irish figures lost in the previous year. Multi-generational and multi-genre, the programme plays music that represents each artist’s legacy and takes loss seriously rather than rushing past it. The fifth episode broadens its focus to include significant people from across all walks of Irish life.
