Pat Byrne / Presenter
Pat Byrne has been a familiar and trusted voice on Dundalk FM 97.7 for around twelve years, and in that time he has become one of the station’s most versatile and community-embedded contributors. He presents Town Talk, co-presents the Dundalk Lions Club At Your Service programme, and covers live music on The Irish Gigs Review Show. Between those three roles he touches almost every dimension of what makes community radio genuinely valuable: current affairs, community service, and a heartfelt love of live music.
Town Talk, which airs Monday to Friday from 10am to noon, is Dundalk FM’s flagship current affairs and community magazine programme. Pat has hosted local councillors, community activists, national politicians, charity representatives, healthcare professionals, and the ordinary people of Dundalk whose stories deserve to be heard. During the 2024 general election, Pat hosted live on-air panel discussions bringing multiple Louth constituency candidates together, giving local voters direct and unmediated access to the people seeking their support.
The Dundalk Lions Club At Your Service programme, for which Pat serves as sound desk operator and contributor, has been a Gold Craol Achievement Award winner and one of the longest-running and most valued services on the station, providing news and information specifically produced for Dundalk’s visually impaired community.
Warm, reliable, and genuinely interested in the people he talks to, Pat Byrne is exactly the kind of presenter community radio was built for.
