The Afternoon Show is your midday companion on Dundalk FM 97.7, broadcasting Monday to Friday and keeping Dundalk company through the heart of the day.
Presented by Joe Duffy with support from a rotating team of Dundalk FM voices, the Afternoon Show blends music, conversation, and community in the way that only local radio can. It is the kind of show that feels like dropping in on a friend, familiar and warm, with something interesting always going on.
Dundalk is a town with a big personality and the Afternoon Show reflects that, giving a platform to the stories, events, and people that make this community what it is.

Afternoon Show crew
Joe Duffy is the Chair of Dundalk FM 97.7 and the presenter of Showband Street every Sunday at 1pm — a musician who lived the golden era of the Irish showband circuit, a former bandmate of Paddy Mac in New Revival, and the man keeping the memory and the music of that extraordinary era alive on local radio.
John Englishby arrived in Dundalk from Navan in 1982 to teach Maths and Physics at St Mary's College and never left — bringing with him a lifelong passion for music, a deep love of Thin Lizzy, and enough curiosity about new Irish artists to fuel three Dundalk FM shows: Drive Time on Mondays, Odds and Sods, and Themed Tunes.
Jason Kelly has been part of Dundalk FM since 2002 through his connection with RehabCare Dundalk, and his story is one of the most powerful examples of what community radio can genuinely do for a person — he is now a Drive Time presenter, a trained sound engineer, a member of the Programme and Technical Committee, and the key figure behind the establishment of a remote studio at the RehabCare centre.
MaryRose Muckian presents Mix Bag on the first and third Wednesday evenings from 7.00 pm to 8.00 pm and contributes to Drive Time on Dundalk FM 97.7 — one of the station's most experienced and versatile volunteers.
David Larkin presents the Saturday Night Show on the second Saturday of every month and contributes to the Dundalk Lions Club At Your Service programme on Dundalk FM 97.7 — a presenter who joined the station in 2019 and whose commitment to community life extends far beyond radio, through his service as President of Dundalk Lions Club and Chair of dis ABILITY Louth.
Cathal McCooey is one of Dundalk FM's most versatile contributors, presenting Drive Time on Thursdays, contributing to Town Talk and the Irish Gigs Review Show, and bringing a deep knowledge of Irish live music and a creative investment in the station's development to everything he does across the schedule.
