Do you know someone who has an interest in radio broadcasting and would like to start by doing a one hour show about their favourite band or musician? We have one slot each week for a breakthrough DJ – 3pm – 4pm on Saturday. To get started send us your contact details and we’ll do the rest.
Above are our team of new radio volunteers researching their choice for the 5 Irish Tunes show – Dean Wright, Barbara McClure, Luka Stopic, Mary Gantley, Conor Clarke, Bruno Vilares and Róisín Ward Morrow. Seoirse McCann and Sean Callaghan called to share their experience of presenting on Dundalk FM and to encourage our new volunteers to join the September Radio Course. Cathal McCooey and Pat Byrne with a retrospective on the bands and musicians that played Slane Castle. 2nd Saturday from 2 pm to 4 pm. Pat and Cathal have worked as a cohesive and dedicated team in the making of the Slane Through The Years series, giving freely of their time to ensure that all deadlines are met and the programme is delivered with both professionalism and style. They have coordinated the allocation of pre-recorded content, with extraordinary attention to detail, and executed every aspect with deliberate precision. The arrival of the pandemic in March 2020 coincided with the launch of the series, and as a consequence, much of the technical backup that would have previously been available to the 2 volunteer presenters was immediately removed. Undeterred, they both fine-tuned their recording and editing skills, embraced new technologies to adapt to the new norm, and continued to produce high-quality original programming, that grew in strength and tandem with their new competencies. Without prior knowledge or introduction, they managed to connect with numerous musicians, many of whom have fallen slightly off the radar, and convince them to participate in the programme. Slane Through The Years now has a loyal listenership, both On Air and online, while the 2 presenters have found themselves the ‘go-to’ candidates for other voluntary presenters looking for advice on improving production values and advances in practical applications.
