Town Talk is the flagship current affairs and magazine programme on Dundalk FM 97.7, presented by a team that includes David Larkin, Cathal McCooey, Pat Byrne and Marissa Lucchesi and airs on Monday to Friday from 10am to noon. It is the heartbeat of the station’s weekday schedule, the show where Dundalk comes to discuss, debate, and connect with what is happening in the town, the county, and the wider world.


Running for two hours each weekday morning, Town Talk covers the full range of topics that matter to people living in and around Dundalk. Local news and community events, health, business, arts and culture, sport, social issues, and national affairs all find a home on the programme. The show combines interviews with community figures, local and national politicians, business owners, charity representatives, healthcare professionals, and ordinary people with important stories to share, making it one of the most genuinely connected and listened-to programmes on the station.

Town Talk has a track record of serious public affairs programming. During election periods the show has hosted pre-election panels bringing candidates from across the Louth constituency together for live debate and discussion, giving voters direct access to the people seeking their votes. The show has also broadcast live from outside the studio at significant community events, including Age Friendly conferences, military facilities, and community centres, taking Dundalk FM’s microphone to where the story is rather than waiting for it to come to the studio.

Alan Byrne

Alan Byrne is the Station Manager of Dundalk FM 97.7 and one of its founding members, a Dundalk man who helped build the station from scratch in 2004 and has been at the centre of everything it does ever since — from writing and producing award-winning radio drama to presenting 5 Irish Tunes and mentoring generations of volunteer broadcasters.

Pat Byrne

Pat Byrne grew up in Castlebellingham and now lives in Ravensdale, and for the past twelve years he has been one of Dundalk FM's most dependable and community-rooted voices — presenting Town Talk, contributing to the Dundalk Lions Club At Your Service programme, and covering Irish live music on the Irish Gigs Review Show.

Marissa Lucchesi

Marissa Lucchesi is a presenter and community coordinator at Dundalk FM 97.7, contributing to Town Talk on air and working off-air on volunteer development, diversity outreach, and new presenter support — including co-managing the station's Community Call registration during the 2020 pandemic response alongside Padraig Quigley.
